The Portland Trail Blazers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA‘s Western Conference, as they have won seven of their last 10 games. However, Thursday will bring a new challange as the youthful club plays host to the Eastern Conference leading Miami Heat. Look for the Blazers to come out on fire, as they have been exceptionally good in the Rose Garden in Portland.
Unfortunately, the Heat come in riding a skid in which they have only won three of their last seven games. Not to mention, two of those wins were versus a maligned Washington Wizards team. With that being said, look for the Blazers front court of J.J Hickson and LaMarcus Aldridge to take advantage of the Heat’s league worst 15.4 second chance points per game. The battle on the boards will be worth watching in this one.
In addition, Wesley Matthews has been scoring on everyone in his sights during this three-game winning streak for the Trail Blazers. He has averaged 23.7 points per game while shooting 63% from behind the arc. However, a new challenge strolls to town as the always explosive Dwyane Wade will be in Matthews face all night. Wade is having quite the season of his own, so don’t be surprised if he has a big game versus the Trail Blazers on Thursday as they have been exposed on defense.
They have given 99.2 points per game this season–which is why I imagine the Heat are right around that total tonight despite how they’ve played on their stuggling road trip.
