Since Kevin Love went down with a broken hand injury at the beginning of January, the Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled when it comes to picking up wins as the team has lost five of their last six games. With his recent surgery, all signs point to Love being sidelined until some time in March, but the main question is will the Timberwolves find a way to win games and stay in the playoff hunt?
At the beginning of the season, Minnesota appeared to be one of those teams to keep an eye on that could possibly be a sleeper pick when it came to the playoffs. They already had one of the top big men in the league in Love and the Timberwolves even had a winning record before their star player went down with the injury.
Love is the type of player that is almost always a guarantee to record a double-double each time he steps foot on the court and makes it difficult for any defender in the league to contain. It certainly won’t be easy, but Minnesota will need to figure out ways to win games until Love returns to the lineup at some point in March.
Otherwise, Minnesota will enter the 2013-14 season once again as a team to keep an eye on to make a surprise run at the playoffs just like the beginning of this season–which is the last thing the organization wants to see happen.
