It’s almost been two weeks since Pau Gasol has been able to play for the Los Angeles Lakers after the forward suffered a concussion on January 6 against the Denver Nuggets. Now, one of the top NBA rumors heading into Thursday involves Gasol returning to the lineup for a key matchup against the Miami Heat.
After missing the last five games, Gasol appears ready to return to the lineup on Thursday as he participated in certain parts of practice on Wednesday. With the way things have turned out so far this season in Los Angeles, the Lakers could use all of the extra help in the world as they head into their game against the Heat four games below .500 and hopefully the return of Gasol would provide an extra spark for a team that many picked as the favorites to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals this season.
This may be the first time in four years he’s not averaging a double-double, but Gasol has proven to be very effective as a power forward when healthy and the Lakers hope he can return to his dominant level before it’s too late. With All-Star Weekend right around the corner, every game is becoming crucial for Los Angeles as they trail the Portland Trail Blazers by three games for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Hopefully, everything goes according to plan for the Lakers with Gasol and he’ll be good to go for Thursday’s game against the defending NBA Champions.
