Dwight Howard Is Los Angeles Lakers Biggest Problem

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

It has been a long and painful season for the Los Angeles Lakers as the team slips deeper and deeper into the depths of misery in the National Basketball Association. It looks like the team will miss the playoffs if they don’t win about 80% of their games the rest of the way. There are many issues with the Lakers, but there is one in particular that needs to be looked at in Dwight Howard.

Howard wanted out of Orlando and wanted to play for the Lakers with Kobe Bryant. Howard has promptly come to Los Angeles and complained about the lack of touches he is getting or gets in the way of what Bryant is trying to do. This band of superstars in Los Angeles just isn’t working as in-fighting is becoming an everyday issue now. Howard is in the last year of his contract and will likely be out in Los Angeles next season but that might not be fast enough for Bryant, who is nearing the end of his career and I’m sure would love one more chance at a NBA championship.

Howard got hurt again during Wednesday’s loss and will probably miss time so maybe that actually helps the Lakers and they can get back to their winning ways from a season ago. At this point, nothing is working all the way from the coach on down to everyone on the team. This team will get blown up either at the All-Star break or in the of-season and for Lakers fans, that moment can’t come soon enough.
