Carmelo Anthony got his revenge against the Boston Celtics. We all know what happened. Allegedly, of course; there have been denials on all fronts.

But we know the rumor; Kevin Garnett said that Anthony’s wife tasted like a certain breakfast cereal. That is just low; it’s probably not as low as when Garnett told Tim Duncan “happy mother’s day” the year after his mother had died, but it’s still pretty low.

Melo brought it though, scoring 28 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 89-86 win.

“He responded exactly like he was supposed to,” Knicks center Tyson Chandler said. “The best way to get back is by getting a victory, especially in a place where we haven’t won in a long time.”

The Knicks never lost the lead in the fourth quarter; it was back and forth through three quarters, but in the fourth Anthony really got into a zone.

“I’m just trying to block everything out and do what I have to do to win the game,” Anthony said. “This whole night was satisfying. To win in this building was a long time coming.”

Anthony must have been playing with some extra motivation Thursday; how could you not? He recently separated from his wife, which must have made the words hurt even more. I gotta say; I usually like Garnett, but there is a line that you don’t cross in trash talk, and Garnett has crossed it repeatedly. Hard not to enjoy ‘Melo getting a little bit of revenge on Thursday.
