Should the New Orleans Hornets Look to Trade Eric Gordon?

The New Orleans Hornets are no more! We should all question the decision to name the team the Pelicans, but whatever. What’s important is the current roster. The New Orleans Hornets just drafted Anthony Davis, and they believe between him and Eric Gordon– they have a nice young nucleus. The problem with that theory? Gordon seems to consistently be injured. However, is that reason enough for the Hornets (Pelicans) to trade him? I know some fans might thinks so- but I don’t.

Athletes get injured. That’s part of the game. It doesn’t change the fact he’s insanely talented, can shoot the lights out, and is still young enough to do some major damage to the NBA. I don’t think he’s going to be the cornerstone they really want him to be, but I think he could be an outstanding final piece for the team as they move forward developing their roster.

It’s certainly a risk to keep him, but I don’t know what you’d get for him on the open market. If the Hornets (Pelicans) are concerned about his health and want to trade him, there’s no way they get top dollar in return, so why trade him at all? You might as well hope that he stays healthy and dominates the way he’s shown he can.

The good news is: I haven’t found any real rumors regarding Gordon being on the trade block, so I don’t think fans need to worry (if they support the cause of course).

We’ll see what this franchise does moving forward, but I don’t know if they’re all that far away. A couple key signings, and the development of Anthony Davis? Eric Gordon will fit perfectly.
