LeBron James of the Miami Heat will probably have the numbers to win the MVP every year, but does that mean he’s the MVP every year? Kevin Durant has been the leagues best scorer and is continuously improving the rest of his game. It’s safe to say he’s a top 3 player in basketball but has yet to win the coveted award. Could this year be the year for Durant? To me, that answer is yes.
If you take Kevin Durant off the Oklahoma City Thunder, they are NOT a title contender. There’s no other way around that. That tells you what Kevin Durant means to the organization. You could make the case that the Heat have more weapons and could make a run at a title without LeBron James. Throw in the fact Durant is once again leading the league in scoring? Yeah, he’s got to win one eventually right?
I look at Kevin Durant as the type of player I would want to build a team around. He’s laid back, doesn’t draw attention to himself and you can tell he flat out loves to play the game of basketball. He’s fun to watch and he’s going to be a Hall of Famer when it’s all said and done. He’s a special kind of player and I look forward to watching him play out the rest of his career. Once he gets the MVP this year (he should), and eventually will win a ring, there’s nothing stopping him from that point forward.
We’ll see how the voters play this thing out, but if I had a vote? Kevin Durant is my number 1.
