Despite holding on to the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, there’s been plenty of NBA rumors swirling over the last couple of weeks surrounding the Memphis Grizzlies considering they seem to have a few players that could be on the move. While Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol have seen their names thrown in the mix when it comes to being on the move, there’s one player that seems to have the best chance of ending up with a new team–Rudy Gay.
The Grizzlies forward has seen his name thrown around trade talks over the last couple of weeks considering the chances of him leaving the team eventually for free agency and one team that seems to be drawing interest all of a sudden is the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, there’s been talk about the Grizzlies and Lakers being involved with a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics–so it should be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks with the trade deadline right around the corner.
From the Lakers’ perspective, they seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to turn things around since they’re one of the biggest laughing stocks of the league at the moment considering they wouldn’t even make the playoffs if the season ended today. There was a time at the beginning of the season when the Grizzlies seemed like one of the top teams in the league, but it’s difficult not to wonder how well this team would do if they do lose Gay.
