The Indiana Pacers are playing pretty well this season led by rising star and their lone All-Star, Paul George. The Pacers find themselves second in the central division standings and fifth in the eastern conference standings. The team seems to be hitting their stride this season and added some depth to their roster when they re-signed a veteran swingman.

The Pacers announced that they re-signed small forward/shooting guard Sam Young. Young was waived by the team earlier this month, only to be brought back later in January. Young has had stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Philadelphia 76ers and now he is back with the Pacers. Young might not get much playing time with the Pacers but he will definitely be a nice insurance policy for the team.

I always thought that Young was a great wing player and could never understand why he never got much playing time. Young is an athletic 6’6” versatile player that plays great defense and he is the type of player who will come in and do whatever is asked of him.

Hopefully Young gets some playing time because he can really help this Pacers team, especially on the defensive end. It might be hard to find him minutes with how well George has been playing and the sudden emergence of Lance Stephenson. Nevertheless, if head coach Frank Vogel is looking for someone to come in and give the Pacers some toughness Young is his guy.

All in all, I like the pick-up of Young and the current make-up of the Pacers roster. The Pacers have definitely weathered the storm of not having Danny Granger this season, and they could be a very dangerous team come playoff time.
