Another team that might have interest in Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce is the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers are having an excellent season and have two perennial All-Stars on their current roster in point guard Chris Paul and forward Blake Griffin. Adding a guy like Pierce would cement their status as arguably the best team in the NBA. The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat would also argue for that title. Either way, acquiring Pierce would be a huge coup for the Clippers and might finally allow them to fully escape the Los Angeles Lakers shadow as the best team in Los Angeles.
The Clippers have some assets that the Celtics would be interested in, but it is very difficult at this current juncture to see any matches that would work for the Celtics. Clippers point guard Eric Bledsoe is an excellent young prospect and has shown loads of potential in his early career.
The problem with adding Bledsoe is that he plays the same position as Rajon Rondo, leaving the Celtics with the same problem the Clippers have this year; two qualified guys at the point guard position. The Celtics are much better off trying to add younger talent at any other position besides point guard. Deandre Jordan is a guy the Celtics have liked, but the contract he signed last season is too much money and years for the Celtics to take on. He would clog their future payroll and he is not a good enough player to invest long term in for GM Danny Ainge.
The Clippers will probably have interest in Pierce, but it remains cloudy as to what type of package they could put together that would intrigue the Celtics.
