Trouble in Disney World, Orlando Magic Have Lost 17 of 19 Games

We all knew this season was going to be really bad for the Orlando Magic, but this recent skid must have people re-thinking just how bad they thought things really would be.

After finding themselves a fairly competitive – and probably good enough for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference had they kept up their pace – one game under .500 just a few days before Christmas. Since then, Jacque Vaughn’s squad has dropped 17 of 19 games, as they’re barely holding off the Charlotte Bobcats and Washington Wizards for last place in the NBA‘s Southeast Division.

While Orlando has been aided by sharing a division with two of the worst (which is putting it nicely) teams in recent league memory, it doesn’t look like the bleeding is going to be ending any time soon. Currently hanging onto the worst losing streak in the league at six-straight losses, the Magic don’t look like they can beat anyone, as six of their last seven losses have come against teams who also have losing records.

Even highlights like J.J. Redick having a career season don’t mean much, as rumors have begun circulating that the sweet shooting guard could be traded in the immediate future.

Not only did the Magic fall to 0-13 when not reaching the 90-point plateau in their latest loss Monday night at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets, but this was the first time that the Magic were swept by the Nets in their regular season series since the 2003-04 season, which was the last year that they played without Dwig…you know what, forget it.

At least the Magic players get to enjoy New York City on Tuesday, as they don’t play again until they take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. If I had to make a prediction, I’d say they’re probably not going to end their losing streak against the number two team in the East.
