Another night, another big game for Jrue Holiday as the Philadelphia 76ers guard displayed another impressive performance against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, showing why he’s worthy of a roster spot for the Eastern Conference during All-Star Weekend.
Holiday led the Sixers with 21 points to go along with three rebounds, six assists and four steals as the team recorded their 19th win of the season after defeating the Wizards 92-84. Despite Philadelphia’s disappointing record so far on the season, Holiday has been one of the rare positive factors as he’s been nothing short of phenomenal for the team this year and he’s quickly emerging into one of the league’s top guards.
While Wednesday’s win over the Wizards was a big one, the Sixers better figure out a way to turn things around quickly before it’s too late because the second half of the regular season is already underway. Expectations were high for Philadelphia heading into the 2012-13 season as they almost upset the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs last year, but they’ve struggled at times and are currently seven games under .500.
Obviously, there’s still plenty of time for this team to turn things around in the second half of the season, but with the amount of competition in the Eastern Conference, every win is going to be important from here on out. If Philadelphia is going to turn things around, they’re going to need Holiday to continue making an impact on a nightly basis.
