When it comes to professional sports, there are no guarantees when it comes to matchups–no matter what the difference in record between the two teams may be. However, when it comes to the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Charlotte Bobcats at home, it’s safe to say this is one of those rare exceptions.
Not only do the Spurs enter Wednesday’s game with the best record in the league, but they’ve won 16-straight games at home–which is impressive for just about any team no matter what sport it is. Despite all of the criticism they’ve received over the last year or two about their veteran stars becoming too old, San Antonio looks stronger than ever once again as they’re off to a 36-11 start on the year and appear to be on their way to holding one of the top seeds in the Western Conference playoff standings once again.
As for the Bobcats, the fact their win total matches the total of the Spurs losses shows how much of a struggle this season has been for them. The potential is certainly there to build the team around Kemba Walker, but it’s no secret this team is still a few years away from even becoming close to the category of contenders.
And when it comes to matching up against an experienced San Antonio team–Wednesday’s game should be no problem for Tim Duncan and company to extend that home winning streak to 17 games.
