After a surprise run in the playoffs last season that had the team on the verge of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, expectations were high for the Philadelphia 76ers heading into the 2012-13 season as they were seen as a “sleeper” team to watch this year–especially after acquiring Andrew Bynum. Obviously, that has been far from the case as the 76ers wouldn’t even make the playoffs if the season were to end today–which is why many believe they could be a team to watch before the trade deadline.
One of the top NBA rumors swirling this week regarding the Sixers–a trade involving Nick Young.
The shooting guard has stepped up his game lately for Philadelphia while Jason Richardson continues to recover from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined for five games as Young has averaged 16.6 points per game. Obviously, those numbers could go down as Young’s minutes could go down once Richardson becomes healthy again.
With this in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Philadelphia did end up parting ways with their guard.
There’s still plenty of time remaining in the regular season for the 76ers to turn things around and the team clearly knows some sort of move needs to be made before the deadline rolls around. Young has proven what he’s capable of doing when given the minutes and there should be plenty of teams expressing interest for a possible trade–so it should be interesting to see how these next few weeks play out between the two parties.
