Ricky Rubio has been awful on the court in 2013 and perhaps he needs to concern himself more with the Minnesota Timberwolves than Pau Gasol and the Los Angeles Lakers. It has been well documented just how much Gasol has struggled getting playing time with the Lakers, but that is quite frankly none of Rubio’s business.
In an interview Thursday Rubio said ”it’s been the last two years that it seems like they don’t want him, but actually they need him” when asked about Gasol’s lack of playing time.
The Timberwolves currently sit at 17-25 and are alone in last place in the NBA‘s Western Conferences Northwest division. Shouldn’t Rubio be worried about his team being 17 games out of first place rather than whether or not Gasol is getting playing time over a thousand miles away?
While no one is asking him to take an oath of silence he still needs to be focus more on his team rather than his friend’s issues.
With a lot of season left to endure in Minnesota don’t be surprised if Rubio offers up some more advice like this as it get awful boring in last place. Hopefully his focus can turn away from the antics in California and more on his 27% field goal percentage or his 5.1 Points per game in 2013.
The kid is only 22-years-old and has a lot to learn about what to say to the media. Next time myself and Timberwolves management would like to hear Rubio shoot the question down by talking about his own team.
