San Antonio Spurs Pick Up 17th-Straight Win at Home
It’s one thing for a basketball team to put together an impressive nine-game winning streak like the San Antonio Spurs have over the last couple of weeks, but it’s even more impressive when they develop an impressive winning streak at home as well to go along with it.
The Spurs recorded their 17th-straight win at home on Wednesday after defeating the Charlotte Bobcats 102-78–which really should come as no surprise considering the Bobcats wins matched the Spurs losses heading into the game. Tony Parker displayed another impressive performance for San Antonio after scoring 22 points to go along with two rebounds, seven assists, and three steals as the Spurs improved to 37-11 on the season.
After all of the questions at the beginning of the season regarding whether or not the Spurs would slow down this season due to their star veterans getting older, San Antonio looks like one of the top teams in the league once again as they sit on top of the Western Conference standings. This team has always been a contender during the Tim Duncan era and with the way things are going this season–there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to snag the top seed in the conference heading into April.
And of course if that happens, expect San Antonio to make a strong run at the NBA Finals considering how well this team has played at home this season. If they earn the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference, they may end up being a lock.
