Portland Trail Blazers Ready For First Grudge Match With Utah Jazz All Season

With the Utah Jazz getting pummeled by the Houston Rockets by forty at home, the immediate reaction may be to call the Jazz an awful home team. However, the Jazz remain one of the best teams in all of the NBA and especially at home where they have won 7 of their last 8 and are 16-5 overall.

The Portland Trail Blazers are right on the trail of the Jazz with a 23-22 record and are ready to put their recent road struggles behind them. In 2012-13 the Blazers are an abysmal 7-14 on the road and have dropped seven of their last 10 contests. In order for this team to turn it around they will need complete play from everyone especially in a hostile Utah environment.

Despite a six-game losing streak last month the Blazers have won three of their last four, so it will definitely be a dog fight on Friday. What I’m watching for is a tough and gritty game as these two haven’t seen each other all season and I’m sure they have no issues with that. They will get familiar with each other in these coming months as this is game one of a four game series that includes a game in April that may have intense playoff implications.

These teams are eerily similar as they both are well over .500 at home but, are less than stellar in someone else’s arena.

If the Jazz come out and drop the ball again on Friday Night like they did against the Rockets, trouble may be coming full-force for Ty Corbin‘s club.
