The Utah Jazz, are not just music makers on the court. The Jazz are making music in the lives of the much less fortunate. As of January 2013, the Jazz along side with Mountain America Credit Union have joined forces with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation to help fight cancer. This is how it works: every time the Jazz score a three-point during their season, Mountain America will donate $50 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Mountain America has donated $100,000 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation as of yet.
It’s a great idea, I think. Cancer foundations need all the help they can get, be it from credit companies or major NBA players. If any of the Jazz, are great altruist, then it will encourage them all the more to make those three-point shots and that’s good for everyone.
Mountain America Credit Union and the Huntsman Cancer Foundation have been partners since 2001. The Jazz have only gotten in on this altruistic action for three years, but they couldn’t be more pleased to lend a helping hand. Utah Jazz president, Randy Rigby had this to say:
“The Utah Jazz is honored to once again team up with Mountain America Credit Union to support the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Because cancer has affected all of us in one way or another, we are thankful for our continued partnership with Mountain America to help fight this terrible disease.”
Once again, it is always nice to see our favorite athletes play for the side of humanity.
