LeBron James to Appear in Final Super Bowl Commercial (Video)

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James will make an appearance in the final Super Bowl advertisement that will be shown during tonight’s game.

The commercial is for Samsung, and the concept revolves around “The Next Big Thing.” However, James is already the best player in the NBA and is chasing Michael Jordan for the greatest player ever, so it would seem to me that he is already a pretty “big thing.”

But that is neither here nor there.

The leading candidate for the 2012-13 NBA MVP (26.5 PPG, 7 APG, 8.3 RPG) joins Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen as the two make their case for their being the next big thing. However, when James is connected through a video chat, and the two express their excitement for the opportunity to work with James, Rudd says “You got LeBron James!…You don’t even need anyone else!”

“Right…we don’t, we don’t…” the Samsung representative replies.

It is a shame that companies only put in effort to make the Super Bowl ads so enjoyable during the February NFL Championship, while there are only a few other commercials that are amusing during other times of the year.

James has had some memorable ones in the past, though. Here is one of my all-time favorites, in which James and Dwight Howard compete in a game of basketball (first one to miss) while playing for some McDonald’s.

The 2010 commercial pays homage to the original, in which Michael Jordan and Larry Bird compete for the same prize.

Watch Kyrie Irving Pull Off A Spin-Deke

Kyrie Irving is obviously very talented, and but this spin move to get open for a jump shot taught a Boston Celtics player not to be overly aggressive when closing out.

Paul George Miraculously Sinks Off-Balance, Fall Away Trey On ATL

Paul George is the type of player we have come to expect incredible plays from, but what he did against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night was truly remarkable. In the first quarter with the shot clock running out, George tossed up an off-balance, fall away shot from downtown that miraculously hit nothing but net.

Al Horford Emphatically Posterizes Pacers' Solomon Hill

Al Horford clearly isn't letting all the trade rumors he's been involved of late get in the way of business out on the hardwood. On Friday night against the Indiana Pacers, Horford emphatically posterized Solomon Hill with a massive dunk, and NBA aficionados nationwide lost their collective mind on the Internet.
