Dallas Mavericks make team pact until they improve losing record

To say that the Dallas Mavericks season hasn’t gone well so far would be a huge understatement. The team is currently sitting far below .500 and if the season ended today, they wouldn’t even come close to qualifying for the postseason.

The players, however, decideded that they needed to do something to improve their abysmal record, and what better way than to turn to a bit of old-school superstition? After all, sports and superstition go hand in hand.

Earlier this week at a post-game press conference, Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki was asked about his newly grown facial hair. He told the media that he and some other members of the team, including Vince Carter, Chris Kaman, O.J. Mayo, Dahntay Jones, and Jae Crowder have all made a pact to grow out their beards until the team produces a winning record.

Unfortunately for them, that could be quite a while considering they are currently seven games below .500.

Even fans have gotten in on the action, with many of them sharing pictures of themselves growing out their own beards on various social media sites across the internet.

While many fans and sports writers, myself included, feel that it wouldn’t be such a bad thing for the Mavericks to have a poor season so that they can start the rebuilding process, no one wants to see a team throw in the towel before the end of the season, no matter how grim things look.

Admittedly, none of us truly believes that a beard will actually improve this Dallas Mavericks team, but kudos to the players for not giving up.
