It is becoming increasingly hard to not like LeBron James. As the Miami Heat took on the Los Angeles Clippers last night, James decided he would make another fan’s day by playing some catch towards the end of the second quarter.
After making a successful defensive play by doubling Caron Butler, James forced a bad pass that went out of bounds and into the hands of a lucky Heat fan. The fan perhaps didn’t realize just how lucky he was.
At first it seemed as though James was upset that the fan did not return the ball in a timely fashion, as he walked up to the sideline and asked for the ball back. However, after the fan returned the ball, James clearly wasn’t happy with the delivery of the pass, so he threw the ball right back to the fan, who was wearing a number 6 Heat jersey.
The action was met by applause around the American Airlines Arena. The cameras showed the fan once again during the broadcast, as he was clearly ecstatic about being able to assist the best player in basketball.
At the half-time interview James was asked why he decided to play a little back and forth with the fan and he said:
“Just want to show my appreciation to the fans that we have here, they have been great all night.
Only two weeks ago, James celebrated with a fan, who hit a half-court hook shot worth $75,000, by tackling the guy to the floor and and thus making headlines. It seems that LeBron continues to build up his reputation, that was partially tarnished during “The Decision”.
On a basketball side of things, James had a regular night by his standards, continuing his efficient ways. He scored 30 points on 9-11 shooting, while adding six assists and five rebounds.
