Shawn Marion had an impressive performance tonight when the Golden State Warriors came to town to play the Dallas Mavericks. Marion netted a season high 26 points and looked aggressive on offense. He also crashed the boards and grabbed 11 rebounds. Marion looked like he is back and ready to make sure that the  Mavericks don’t lose out on making the NBA playoffs this year.

The Warriors have been struggling the past four games trying to get a victory. The Warriors just never got into a rhythm offensively. This is their longest losing streak this season coming off this road trip. It is always hard to win on the road in the NBA especially in Dallas. The Mavericks overwhelmed the Warriors by grabbing close to a 30 point lead in the first half and never looked back. This team is starting to gel at the right time and making the right plays. Dirk Nowitzki is now back and healthy. OJ Mayo is playing with passion and fire under his feet by attacking the glass every time he gets the ball. Elton Brand is finally playing like he needs to for these Mavericks.  Darren Collison is passing the ball with ease. Tonight, Collison had eight assists with 18 points.

This Mavericks team is now starting to find its offense and defense.   They have now won consecutive games which is a big confidence boost. They kept pushing the tempo and held the Warriors at arm length. As for Marion, there has been rumors speculating about him. He is playing his best basketball of the year. It was his fourth double-double in his last five games and his fourth 20-point effort of the season. “The Matrix” was 11-for-16 overall and 2-for-3 from deep with two steals, one block and one assist. His previous season high was 23. Marion said this about the rumors: “It’ll take care of itself. Right now, I’m a Dallas Maverick and that’s what it’s about.”

The Mavericks need to think twice about trading Marion who has become the best player for them the past few weeks. He has been there steady rock and is taking the Mavericks on his back.
