Arron Afflalo Running Show For Orlando Magic

Arron Afflalo came over to the Orlando Magic during the massive Dwight Howard trade this offseason. Afflalo has been improving during his six years in the National Basketball Association and this season has become the best one yet for Afflalo, averaging nearly 17 points per game. Those numbers are one of the few bright spots for a Magic team that is overall very bad this year.

Afflalo just came back from being gone for six games due to a strained calf and a personal matter but jumped right back in with 37 points over his first two games back. This is a lost season for the Magic and there have been only a few players that have been watching for the Magic this year with Afflalo being at the top of the list. The only other player that has done anything worthwhile has been Nikola Vucevic, who is averaging a double-double. Those two are going to be the future of this team and are going to be expected to keep scoring in bunches for the Magic to finally start winning on a consistent basis.

Afflalo is going to have to be the engine that drives Orlando for the next four years at least with the length of his contract. The Magic are going to remain very bad unless they get very lucky in free agency or make a major trade this offseason because it doesn’t look like the draft has one must-take prospect. This is Afflalo and Vucevic’s team for the foreseeable future and that future isn’t looking too bright right now.
