The Phoenix Suns are heading towards a possible shot at the number one overall draft pick in this summer’s NBA Draft and we continue our series at possible candidates to don a Suns uniform. Today we look at Ben McLemore from Kansas. A sweet shooting guard who red shirted last season, he has a diverse offensive game and can fill it up, especially from three point range. He has the looks of a future All Star and he would be an excellent building block for the organization if they get a high draft pick.
How would he fit in with the rest of the roster? At this point, anyone with legitimate talent would fit in with this team. We have alluded to the fact that Goran Dragic and Marcin Gortat simply cannot be your two best players in this day and age. McLemore would easily become their most talented player and would be a go to guy for them immediately. We looked at Shabazz Muhammad the other day and although he would be a good fit, McLemore probably makes even more sense based on his scoring ability. Who is the Suns best scorer? Dragic? Again, that is completely unacceptable. He is a nice player but has really only had one truly legitimate season of great production, and that was last season when he was playing for a contract. Phoenix gave him that contract and they paid him a very nice price.
The Suns have a long and unpredictable road ahead of them and McLemore would make an excellent addition to their current roster.
