Basketball World Yawns as Terrence Ross Wins 2013 NBA Dunk Contest
It’s not because there were no stars in the 2013 NBA Dunk Contest; it’s not because Terrence Ross plays for the lowly Toronto Raptors; it’s because the dunks are lame. They’re boring. Nobody cares anymore. Seconds after Ross was named the winner of this year’s dunk contest, Twitter was flooded with tweets by disappointed fans who long for the thrill of the contest that hasn’t been seen in almost 20 years.
A #SpriteSlamDunk quick wrap up: brick brick brick brick brick brick brick brick brick brick brick dunk dunk dunk dunk Terrence Ross wins

Again, no disrespect to Ross because he’s the winner and he has the trophy to prove it. But the whole thing is just lame nowadays. Even if guys like LeBron James and Kevin Durant participated, it probably would still stink, even though millions more would watch simply because of the star power.
Ross didn’t do anything worthy of winning; he simply wasn’t as bad all the other participants. His winning dunk was a bewteen-the-legs (yawn) slam over a kid who looked like he was about four feet tall. When 5’9″ Nate Robinson jumped over somebody, at least the guy (Dwight Howard) was taller than him.
Ross gets a few props for being comical by wearing the Vince Carter Raptors throwback jersey, but that’s it. The whole thing was lame, just like it is every year. Now Ross will go back to riding the Raptors’ bench (how sad is that?), but at least he’ll have time to polish his new trophy. Oh well, now we’ll wait for the All-Star game and see who can score the most points against no defense.
