Phoenix Suns Making Mistake With Marcin Gortat

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Marcin Gortat had a very good first half of this National Basketball Association season with over 11 points and eight rebounds a game for the Phoenix Suns. Gortat appears to be getting the cold shoulder lately from coach Lindsey Hunter and his playing time has gone down which is very hard to explain in my opinion. How can you bench a player that is doing so much for a bad team and expect your team to get better? It just shows how inexperienced and out of tune Hunter is as a coach.

Gortat is having a great year without a doubt, but has scored just 12 points over his last three games while playing only around 23 minutes a game. The Suns are just 17-36 for the season so why stick Gortat on the bench now? There is no reason for it and this is just another reason why Phoenix should be trying to find someone else to coach their team next season. Gortat is a solid player who averaged over 15 points and ten rebounds a game last season. How many coaches are going to bench a player who averages a double-double each game?

The only coaches who do that are coaches who have no clue what they are doing and Hunter fits that description. Gortat deserves better than what he is getting right now in Phoenix because he is probably one of the two best players on the team with Goran Dragic. Phoenix is going nowhere this season so why not have your best players on the court as much as possible?

Watch Markieff Morris' Powerful Dunk vs. Raptors

Markieff Morris has been struggling to this point in the season, but a big game against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night and a highlight-reel dunk could be what he needs to get back on track.

Archie Goodwin Hits Epic Game-Winning Three

The Phoenix Suns are legit playing without five or six important members of their rotation currently, so guys who don't normally make the highlight reels are getting an incredible amount of playing time. This is the case for Archie Goodwin, who started at point guard in Brandon Knight's absence and hit this improbable three with time running out to cement a 98-95 win. Things haven't been go swimmingly in Phoenix this season, so it was awesome to see Suns fans and players alike enjoy this hard-fought win.
