The Los Angeles Lakers have had a strange season but they will not have a sadder moment than they will on Monday. Early in the day, longtime owner Dr. Jerry Buss passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
Lakers owner Jerry Buss passed away this morning. A sad day for L.A.

This is certainly a sad thing, not only for the team but also for the league as a whole. Buss has been around the sport for a long time and the void that he will leave is not going to be filled easily. It sounds like this was a battle that he had a long shot of winning but it is still an incredibly sad moment.
You will hear a lot about Buss in the coming days and there is nothing wrong with that. He was a long time owner and he was one of the big names in Los Angeles sports. The teams he owned were extremely successful and it is not going to be easy to replace a guy like him. It never is in a time like this.
I imagine that the Lakers are going to have one heck of a tribute for him. He means a lot to the team and you can bet they will give it their all this season to turn the ship around and honor Dr. Buss. It has been a trying year for the team but you know that Dr. Buss is going to be watching from above.
