Jeremy Pargo was the third player the Philadelphia 76ers signed to a 10 day contract earlier this season. However, Maalik Wayns and Shelvin Mack didn’t live up to coach Doug Collins’ expectation.
On the other hand, second year player Pargo has generally been the first of the bench. During his 10 day contract that was signed on Feb. 7, Pargo averaged 8.0 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game.
Earlier this season he played in 25 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This signing ends the back-up guard issue the Sixers had. During his 10 day contract, he showed that he belonged on the team. His effort grew with the coaches and the players so far this season.
If Pargo can keep it up, the Sixers might be able to win some more games this half. With a roster that has been plagued with multiple player injuries, Pargo will be able to provide some depth off the bench.
He also has more experience than Wayns or Mack would have been able to provide. Pargo and the rest of the Sixers will have to get off to a quick start in the second half if they want to make a positive move in the standings.
Currently they sit in the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference and four games back of eighth seed Milwaukee Bucks. It won’t be a cake walk to start the second half.
Philadelphia takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and the New York Knicks in their first three games back from the All-Star Weekend.
