Washington Wizards Should Avoid Josh Smith of Atlanta Hawks

There’s been plenty of talk about which players could be traded before the deadline in the NBA and one of the biggest names that could be on the move is Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks. Smith has made it clear he’s been unhappy with the Hawks at times and there’s plenty of teams that would love to have him join their squad for the remainder of the season.

However, there’s one team that needs to avoid trading for Smith at all costs–the Washington Wizards.

For starters, the Wizards seem like the last team Smith would want to play for considering it’s been years since they’ve even been close to being contenders in the NBA and have only won 15 games all season. Not to mention in order to acquire Smith, Washington would most likely have to send some of their younger stars to Atlanta–which is the last thing they want to do.

Smith is the type of player that has been fighting for a max contract for quite some time now and it seems unlikely he would receive one from a team like the Wizards. The thought of having a star like Smith on the roster is something any team would love to have, but the Wizards need to avoid a trade at all costs.

Instead, the team should just focus on what will help them the most down the road–which is continuing to have their young players develop and gain more experience in the NBA to become contenders over the next couple of years.
