Will Milwaukee Bucks Trade Luc Richard Mbah a Moute for J.J. Redick?

The Milwaukee Bucks are determined to land shooting guard J.J. Redick before the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline and it appears they are prepared to give up quite a bit for him.

League sources claim that the Bucks are prepared to offer the Orlando Magic defensive specialist Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and a first-round draft pick for Redick. Of course, the Bucks will only go through with the deal if Redick is guaranteed to re-sign with Milwaukee at the end of the season instead of becoming a free agent. Also, the Bucks would like to deal shooting guard Monta Ellis before acquiring Redick.

Milwaukee is in the process of shopping Ellis around after an inside source claimed that the 27-year-old will not sign his $11 million option for next season and will instead test out free agency for the first time in his career. The Bucks are rumored to have their eyes on the Atlanta Hawks’ Josh Smith and they are one of the teams that have enough trade bait to acquire the forward. However, the Hawks would probably want more than just Ellis, so Milwaukee could try and add Drew Gooden, Samuel Dalembert or Ersan Ilyasova to the mix. Once again, the Bucks seem only likely to pull the trigger on this deal if they can sign Smith to a multi-year contract, something that hardly seems realistic.

However, if Milwaukee was able to pull this off for a reasonable price on both fronts, they could have quite the team on their hands. Putting Brandon Jennings, Redick, Smith, Ilyasova and Larry Sanders together could make quite the starting five. Unfortunately, if the team does not make a deep playoff run this year, then the deal is obviously a bust, especially when Jennings, Redick and Smith could all leave town this summer.

Redick is posting career highs this season with 15.3 points, 4.4 assists and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from beyond the arc in 31.6 minutes of game time.
