Nobody Should Believe Andrew Bynum Will Play For Philadelphia 76ers This Season

It’s been a frustrating season for the Philadelphia 76ers as they currently sit 3 1/2 games back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. There were high expectations at the beginning of the season after their surprise playoff run last year, but one of the main reasons why they’ve failed to live up to the hype is because Andrew Bynum has yet to play a single game due to knee injuries.

While all signs point to Bynum not playing this season, the center claims that’s far from the case.

Bynum spoke to reporters this week and said he was 100 percent certain that he would play at some point this season–it’s just a matter of when. The Sixers acquired Bynum from the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason with the intention he would be the missing piece for them to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but that’s clearly been far from the case.

Instead of making an impact, Philadelphia has felt nothing but frustration as they could use Bynum’s presence in the lineup to compete with the rest of the teams in the Eastern Conference. There was a reason why the Sixers fought so hard to acquire Bynum this offseason and while he claims he’ll play at some point this season–it’s one of those situations where nobody is going to believe him until it actually happens.

In other words–there’s no reason to get excited about Bynum’s claims at this point in the season.
