It’s being reported that legendary player Magic Johnson has offered current great player LeBron James a million reasons to win the Slam Dunk Competition during All-Star Weekend, paid in dollars.

Also, as a way to give incentive to players, Johnson also said if a player beats James, they would get the million dollars. It should be noted that winners of this annual contest get $100,000 and the runner-up gets $50,000.

It seems like Magic is getting frustrated because he feels that when he was playing full-time, big-name stars made All-Star Weekend great entertainment. This included Hall of Fame members Michael Jordan in the slam dunk competition, and Larry Bird doing the 3-point contest more or less annually in the mid 1980s.

Magic is also a business man, and a smart one at that. He knows that if James were to do the contest, it would become must-see TV.

It is unlikely that James would do it in 2014. However, 2015 would make a lot more sense, as there is a lot of talk of putting the 2015 NBA All-Star Game in New York City at Madison Square Garden. It would be the prime spot for James to take Magic up on his offer, since that’s where great players become legends, and it would be extremely fitting for this million dollar contest to go down in the “World’s Most Famous Arena”.
