Arron Afflalo Needs To Be Appreciated More By Orlando Magic

Arron Afflalo has probably not gotten the appreciation from NBA fans that he deserves this season. But as he proved Monday night, Afflalo is a very good professional basketball player who can single-handedly help his team win ballgames.

Granted, he did get a little help from Magic teammates Monday night, but Afflalo played the winning hand in the Orlando Magic‘s 105-102 road victory for over the New Orleans Hornets.

It came against the Hornets, a 21-40 team, but it came on enemy territory which is always a tough win.

Afflalo had 26 points but netted 17 of those in the second half, and came through in impressive style. He was definitely Mr. Clutch, netting an 11-foot turnaround jumper and three straight free throws to give Orlando the lead for good.

Any win is a good one for a team that is struggling like the Magic, a squad that picked up only its fifth win of calendar year 2013.

Afflalo has to realize that he’s the No. 1 guy for the Magic and he can never afford an off night if his team is to be competitive in any game. Against the Hornets, he put in a solid 40 minutes and shot 10-of-20 from the floor, and had five assists and five rebounds along with 26 points. He’s averaging 17 points, four rebounds and 3.3 assists a game.

He needs to top his scoring average every game to give the Magic a chance to win. If Afflalo can top the 20-point total on a regular basis, Orlando can win more ballgames before this season ends.
