Dave Begel from OnMilwaukee.com recently asked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar if he would be willing to be the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Of course,” he replied.

Wow. That would be kind of an outside the box choice for the Bucks, but it could be an inspired one as well. Jabbar might be able to get through to gunners Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis and get them to play efficient basketball. If you think Jabbar wouldn’t help big man John Henson’s game then you are crazy. Jabbar also might provide the kind of star power to make the Bucks more attractive to marquee free agents.

“I know how to prepare for a season as an individual and I know what that means in terms of team commitment,” Abdul-Jabbar told Begel. “I can get all the right people together that have some chemistry and care about each other and they love the game. That’s where teams are made or not made successful. That’s very hard for GM’s to figure out. They know talent when they see it. But that ability to connect with your teammates, that personal chemistry is a hard thing to see in people. I can help players learn how to develop that chemistry.”

The Bucks should take a good long look at this option, because it might just be a perfect fit.
