The basketball world was buzzing a week ago when Stephen Curry went off for 54 points in a loss for the Golden State Warriors. Curry has averaged nearly 35 points a game over his last five contests, but the Warriors have only won one of those games and things are going to need to change on that front if the team ever wants to get to the playoffs and be successful.
Curry is carrying the team on his shoulders right now and even had a double-double on Monday night while averaging over seven assists a game during this hot streak. Golden State may be 34-27 on the season and in the playoffs at this point in time, but unless the Warriors get more help for him, they won’t get real far. He has made more than 11 shots three times over the last five games and is shooting more than 90 percent at the foul line. There is nothing more that he can do for this team.
I’m not sure that he can keep up these numbers for much longer, so Golden State had better find a way to win these games around him. You can’t expect him to score 35-40 points a night because at some point, the three-point shooting isn’t going to be there and he will have an off night from the field. He is allowing the Warriors to have a golden opportunity to be a playoff team and it looks like the other members of his team aren’t doing much to help him out.
It is a real shame because Curry looks like the best player in the whole NBA right now.
