Kobe Bryant scored 42 points on the New Orleans Hornets Wednesday night. More importantly, the Los Angeles Lakers actually won the game. Is there any hope for Kobe and the Lakers making the playoffs? Personally, I say no. However, anything can happen from here on out. From the look of things, Kobe is determined to remain in the race.
Trailing by as many as 25 points, Kobe would not surrender and fall victim to the Hornets. He was very impressive as he scored when it mattered most, stinging the Hornets and their fans with 42 points–a venomous sting indeed.
That game said one thing: Bryant is relentless and will do anything to make it into the postseason.
If the Lakers do have any chance of making the playoffs, it looks as if Kobe will have to score at least 40 points for the rest of the season just to secure a seed. Not as if that is a problem for the veteran. Even with that said, what is the possibility of them winning against opponents such as the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Miami Heat?
Desperate times calls for desperate measures. Kobe, more than anyone, is desperate to be an eighth seed in the playoffs. With the Toronto Raptors playing in LA tonight, will the Black Mamba have a quiet, subtle night, or be deadly and strike his carnivorous opponent, fighting to the very end to stay alive?
