Delfino was 8-for-15 from the floor, including 5-for-9 from the 3-point area, and scored 21 points. He added five assists and was careful with the ball, considering he had one turnover. He put in 29 minutes of playing time and continues to be a valuable resource for the Rockets.
At 34-30 and with 18 games left, the Rockets are hoping players like Delfino can come on strong in the stretch drive to the NBA playoffs.
It appears the Rockets could finish in the playoff seeding for the West playoffs anywhere from sixth to eighth. They could also finish out of that, considering they only have a four-game lead from the 11th place team. But, they have control of their own destiny and while players like Harden can be expected to deliver, they need others to come through.
That includes Delfino. He continues to give the team decent statistics including 10.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
He’s having one of his better season considering that his career averages are 8.1 points, 1.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds a game. His shooting percentage of 41 percent is consistent with what he’s done throughout this career.
If the Rockets can get some strong defense and backup scoring off the bench from Delfino, they should be able to make the playoffs, although nothing is for certain right now. Delfino needs to help the Rockets win and a playoff berth will come.
