It was a constant battle between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat. At times throughout the game, it looked like Philadelphia was going to do the improbable, but Miami finished out strong as Philadelphia made some key mistakes and errors. The Heat won 88-84 over Philadelphia because of their free throw shooting.
As a result, Miami wins their 20th straight game and ties for the third best winning streak in history. Free throws played a key component in Miami winning their 20th straight game. The 76ers beat the Heat in every other statistical line, including field goal shooting, total rebounds and three point shooting.
Free throws usually play a key part in the success of a team. It is a must to capitalize from the opportunities from the charity stripe. Miami shot an impressive 85.2 percent from the line. They also found the line much more with 27 free throw attempts. The Sixers only got to the line 12 times and shot a dismal 58.3 percent from the line.
In the end, the Heat closed out the game shooting free throws after the Sixers got desperate. For now, we watch the streak continue for yet another day. Tonight, the Heat won because of their consistent and hot free throw shooting, not because of their three point game or inside play.
