The Washington Wizards, to the dismay of their fans, are really playing great basketball right now. Why does this distress the fans? Because they came into this season with such high expectations only to be dashed by John Wall’s injury. After their record descended to the point of no-playoff return, then honestly the priority becomes a high draft pick.
Martell Webster shined the other night in the win against the Phoenix Suns though; he scored a career high 36 points on seven three pointers made as well.
“Martell is weird sometimes. He was in his own zone, doing the Michael-Jordan shrug when he hit that last one. …He had a big night for us,” star point guard Wall said.
Wall had an efficient night scoring 17 points and adding in 11 assists. Wall later said that he hoped the team would re-sign Webster, who will be a free agent next year.
“”I would love to be here next year, but it’s a business, so we’ll see what happens. I’m having an extraordinary time here. The city is great, the fans are great, my teammates are awesome,” Webster said.
It’s great for Washington that the Wizards aren’t embarrassing themselves anymore; I’m just hoping they don’t play their way out of a high lottery pick. Can’t John Wall get a mysterious fake knee injury? Just kidding, just kidding. In serious I would love for them to have a high enough pick to draft Nerlens Noel. I’d pay to see that.
