Boston Celtics Draft Prospects: Florida State Guard Michael Snaer
Florida State Seminoles guard Michael Snaer will be another name on a long list of potential Boston Celtics draft picks this summer. The Celtics will ultimately take the best guy available and Snaer could be that guy, especially after pre-draft workouts where he could excel, given his athletic abilities.
The great thing about Snaer is that he genuinely loves to play defense and happens to be pretty good at it as well. When you play under head coach Leonard Hamilton, you know you will have to play defense. Change doesn’t affect Snaer as well, considering he left home in the greater Los Angeles to play his collegiate basketball in Tallahassee, not really a hot bed for cross country recruits. A guy that talented traveling cross country to play his college basketball typically will look at Kentucky, Kansas, or Duke, among others. Snaer is a team player and would be a fan favorite during his time in Boston.
Snaer has a lot of nice qualities that surely will catch GM Danny Ainge’s eye leading up to the draft. As previously mentioned, his defense is outstanding for a guard and he has NBA-ready defensive skills right now. His offensive game is certainly behind his defensive game and he will obviously need to improve in that area as will most prospects preparing for the draft. He also offers nice athleticism at the shooting guard position.
Another trait that general managers will love is that he is not afraid to take big shots. He has hit so many game-winning shots in his collegiate tenure that it is too hard to count.
Snaer will be under heavy consideration by the Celtics brass once June rolls around.
