Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love received his Olympic ring commemorating Team USA’s Gold Medal run during today’s game against the Chicago Bulls. It was their second straight Gold Medal and the team was 8-0 overall in Olympic play.
“It might be the best team I’ll ever have a chance to play on,” Love said. “Being a part of that team and playing with the different players that make a mark on this league in a very positive way, it was unbelievable.”
Love was crucial for the team, because Blake Griffin went down during training camp and Anthony Davis played very limited minutes. This put a lot of defense and rebounding responsibilities on Love’s shoulders.
“I told Kevin Love that I appreciate the way he plays the game,” LeBron James said. “I love the way he plays, the way he plays the game. He goes out and gives it his all every single night and continues to get better.”
Love may not be on the team in the next go round, so he must be very proud of the medal he already has. The Wolves have had an injury riddled season, but they are hopeful that they can turn it around next year with a healthy Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love for hopefully a whole season of play.
