The Boston Celtics do not currently have a second round pick in this summer’s NBA Draft but they have always typically liked to have one, so it wouldn’t be shocking by any means to see them eventually make one at some point. A guy who figures to be available when they would make that pick is Indiana senior forward Christian Watford. He is one of the biggest enigmas in all of college basketball. He is so talented but never seems to put it all together. Most Indiana fans never expected him to be a four-year player as he appeared to be at least a two-and-done player coming out of high school. He needs to be more consistent game-in and game out-and head coach Tom Crean has worked with him all season to continue to get better in all areas.
Watford is one of the best shooting big men you will ever find. He is near 50% from three point range this season and always shoots in the mid 80’s for his free throw percentage. If you are a second-round pick and get drafted for a specific skill, as they often do, then Watford would make for a great pick in the late second round. He can stretch defenses and allow his teammates more driving lanes to the hoop. He needs to become a much better rebounder and he is often criticized for being too soft at times, similar to Los Angeles Lakers Pau Gasol, in that he lacks toughness.
Christian Watford could be a possible Celtic if the team is able to secure a second round pick this summer.
