Tobias Harris picked a fine time to have his career scoring high Friday night. Harris scored 30 points and hit three key free throws down the stretch to help the Orlando Magic snap an eight-game losing streak and beat the Washington Wizards 97-92.

Veteran NBA point guard Jameer Nelson went out with an injury in the first quarter.

Harris had his third straight game of 20 or more points, shooting 11-for-21.

Harris, a second-year player, brought down 11 rebounds and also had three assists. He shot 11-of-21 from the floor and was 2-of-3 in 3-pointers and 6-of-7 in free throws. His play has been steady and very reliable in recent weeks.

He’s averaging 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds a game for the season, but his numbers have really gone sky high since he came from the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s now averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists a game.

Prior to his game against the Wizards, Harris scored 29 points against the Charlotte Bobcats with 10-of-20 shooting from the floor. Two days prior to that, he was 8-of-14 shooting and scored 20 points.

Obviously Harris is going to help the Magic be a threat the rest of the season if he continues shooting like that.

Harris continues to prove to be one of those players who was sitting on the bench, unnoticed by one team and then gets his chance to shine for another squad. The Magic didn’t quite know what they would get when Harris came to the team, but they know now and they’ll keep him.
