Carlos Delfino Can Help Make Houston Rockets Strong Playoff Team
Carlos Delfino continues to make steady contributions for a Houston Rockets team that not only is looking to secure the No. 7 playoff seed in the NBA West, but very much wants to go into the playoffs playing its best basketball.
The Rockets will be playing a top seed even if they secure the No. 7 spot, but now’s the time of year that Delfino and his teammates are looking to pick up their game a few notches.
Delfino is averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He’s been steady for the Rockets all season and has given coach Kevin McHale a steady force from off the bench.
He hasn’t started a lot for the Rockets, but he has seen action in 61 games and has made 24 starts. He’s averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 25.4 minutes per game. He’s been shooting 40.8 percent from the floor, 37.9 percent from the 3-point arc and 86 percent from the free-throw line. In recent games, the Rockets have been getting some key contributions from Delfino. He played 28 minutes on Friday in his team’s 103-94 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. He was 4-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-7 from the 3-point area as well as 5-of-5 from the free throw line for 15 points. He also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Delfino isn’t setting the world on fire for Houston, but he is doing just enough to be an instrumental player who continues to do the little things to help the Rockets. That’s what makes him so valuable. If he can turn his game up several notches, the Rockets are going to have an enjoyable playoff run.
