MarShon Brooks had not started all year and had not been given the type of play time he would have hoped for. He has only played 11.8 minutes per game which is down a lot from last year which affects his overall production.

Tonight, Brooks finally got his opportunity to start as the Brooklyn Nets went on the road to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Brooks made the most of his opportunity as he had a game-high 27 points to lead the Nets to an easy 18 point road victory. Going on the road and earning a win is always a difficult task no matter how weak of an opponent you are facing.

For the Cavs, there is nothing they can really do but hope for a better next year. When their key player, Kyrie Irving, has an off game like he did tonight, the Cavs are going to struggle.

The emergence of Brooks tonight has to be a great sign for the Nets organization as they are closing in on the end of the season and getting ready for the playoffs. If Brooks can be another scoring option to complement Brook Lopez, Deron Williams, and Joe Johnson when he returns, the Nets will be in great shape.

Shooting 57% from the field and 47% from behind the arc will really help you win a basketball game. The Nets have a bunch of talent and when they are on, they can beat any team in the league.

A blowout win over the Cavs doesn’t say much for the Nets, but what MarShon Brooks did tonight is a great sign for a playoff basketball team.
