On Tuesday, while playing the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers commenced a half-time ceremony to honor not only one of he greatest NBA centers of all time, but also one of the greatest Lakers ever. The ceremony began with a video of great Shaq highlights, followed by a few words via video from former teammate Kobe Bryant, former coach Phil Jackson and long-time friend Jeanie Buss.

After the jersey was raised, Shaquille O’Neal gave a speech thanking many of the people that made this great journey possible. However, if you were watching the ceremony, you may have noticed something wrong with the jersey. The Lakers hung it up backwards. If you take a look at the picture above you will notice that Shaq’s last name is on the jersey but that there is also a neckline right above it, a clear indicator of the front. Whoever put together this jersey made a really embarrassing mistake, and will have to rectify it quickly.

Oddly enough, the Lakers presented Shaq with a correctly-done framed jersey. A Lakers official spoke to the Los Angeles Times earlier today and had this to say about the situation, “The oversight will be corrected and a new jersey put up as soon as possible.”

Aside from the fact that this should have never happened in the first place, at least the Lakers are acknowledging their error and vowing to correct it.
