With the Dallas Mavericks playoff hopes slipping away, the Sacramento Kings may be just what the doctor ordered. After getting crushed by the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday and suffering a heart-breaking loss to the Denver Nuggets last night, Dallas should be glad to see the Kings. Dallas has already faced Sacramento three times and has been victorious in all three meetings. Dallas is averaging just under 120 points in the three games while giving up just under 103.

Dallas comes into the game on a two-game losing streak and having lost three out of the last four. Sacramento (27 – 48) is also on a two-game losing streak. If the Mavericks are going to get a win in Sacramento, they are going to have to start rebounding better. Dallas has been outrebounded by 29 in the previous two games, with 20 of those being on the offensive glass.

Dallas knows that the road to the playoffs is going to be a very tough one, but it starts tonight. They must overlook what happened to the Lakers and Nuggets and concentrate on the Kings. This is where the veteran leadership of Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter must take control. Both of these players have been through the fire and know what it takes to win. This time of the year, every team is dealing with injuries and fatigue. However, it’s during that time veteran players must stand up and lead. The Mavericks need a lot of help from Lakers and Utah Jazz opponents, but it means nothing if they can’t take care of their own business. That business starts tonight.
