Things Have Changed Quickly for Indiana Pacers
What a difference one week can make. Last Tuesday, the Indiana Pacers were heading home from a long Western road trip. The Pacers were celebrating a clean sweep of their four-game road swing, after hanging on to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers. Indiana looked strong, poised, and were playing well as a team. One week later, much of that good will is all-but gone.
Indiana has dropped two games in a row since their win against the Clippers last Monday night. Not only have the Pacers lost their winning ways, they seem to have quickly lost their way in general. Indiana literally backed their way into a Central division title, winning their first division championship in a decade, due to the fact that the Chicago Bulls lost to the Detroit Pistons last Sunday. The Pacers could have clinched the Central division crown with a single win last week, but failed to do so.
Indiana has earned their division title by playing well for the most part this season. Still, it is difficult to believe in this young team when they crash so hard down to Earth after climbing so high. The Pacers may have taken their division title, but they did so in un-stunning fashion, by playing very lackluster basketball recently.
The final stretch towards the NBA Playoffs has begun, and Indiana finds themselves slipping down the ranks of the Eastern Conference standings. If this team doesn’t produce soon, then they will have a division title, but will also have a very short playoff run.
