Mark Cuban is one of the best owners in professional sports for a reason: his will to succeed. Even though the Dallas Mavericks are about to end a 12 year long playoff streak, I have confidence that the Mavericks will re-load and get back there next season. Why? Mark Cuban.
This guy has succeeded at everything he’s done, and that’s not going to disappear overnight. He was forced to let guys like Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, and Jason Terry leave after winning a title for the good of the organization. Dirk Nowitzki went down and that’s part of the game. So the Mavs had to build their roster with fringe players right now in hopes of landing a Dwight Howard this summer.
With all that being said, I have supreme confidence Cuban will be able to rebuilt a championship contending roster through the draft, free agency, and even trade. They will have some cap room to maneuver and that’s extremely important in a day where several teams have maxed themselves out.
I don’t know who will be a part of the future success for the Mavs, but I do know one thing and that’s Cuban will bring the players in needed to succeed. Let’s wait until Vince Carter‘s ridiculous deal comes off the book along with Shawn Marion‘s and see what happens. In no way should fans be packing it in and thinking the sky is falling over a planned lost year. The fans support one of the best owners in sports and that’s not an accident. I’m excited to see what the future holds for the Mavericks and Cuban.
