Cleveland Cavaliers Will Regret Bringing Mike Brown Back as Head Coach

By Dan Parzych

How desperate are the Cleveland Cavaliers for a head coach? Well, apparently they’re desperate enough to bring back Mike Brown–the same coach who was fired by the team back in 2010.

Apparently, Brown and the Cavaliers have agreed to a five-year, $20 million deal and he’s expected to be named the new head coach on Wednesday. Even though Brown led the Cavaliers to the playoffs in each of his five seasons with the team a couple of years ago, he was heavily criticized back then for his ability as a head coach.

If Cleveland believes things have changed–they’re going to be in for a rude awakening next season.

Just look at the talented teams Brown has coached over his career and if he couldn’t manage to win the NBA Finals then–what makes the Cavaliers organization think things will be any different during the 2013-14 season? Not only did Brown fail to win a championship with LeBron James on his squad, but there was a reason why he was fired from the Los Angeles Lakers after just five games at the beginning of this season–a team which consisted of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, and Dwight Howard.

Even if Kyrie Irving does have a bright future as one of the league’s up-and-coming stars, the decision to bring Brown back as head coach is going to end up being a huge mistake. If anything, the decision to hire Brown is setting the team back even more than before–so get ready for another long season in 2013-14 Cavaliers fans.
